Orlando St Bridge Level 3 Inspection
Client.
City Of Coffs Harbour
Location.
Coffs Harbour, NSW
Project Description.
Routine inspections of the Orlando St Bridge identified significant spalling
and deterioration in the tidal zone. The City of Coffs Harbour engaged
Ductile Consulting Engineers to assess the damage and provide expert
advice for the management and remediation of the structure.
Our Role
- Undertake detailed NDT, sampling and laboratory testing;
- Undertake a load rating assessment to determine the remnant
capacity of the structure; and - Recommend suitable repairs.
Value Delivered
Through our detailed assessment, we were able to justify not imposing a load restriction on the bridge. Working with our project partner, Remedial Technology, we were able to specify a range of remediation techniques, including impressed current cathodic protection, to extend the life of the bridge by at least 30 years at a fraction of the replacement cost.
