Tamworth Regional Council –
L2 Bridge Inspections.
Client.
Tamworth Regional Council
Location.
Tamworth, NSW
Project Description.
A large number of Tamworth Regional Council’s (TRC) bridge and culvert structures were overdue for Level 2 inspection. TRC engaged Ductile Consulting Engineers (DCE) to undertake inspections of 64 bridges and 122 major culverts.
Our Role
DCE were engaged to undertake the following:
- Level 2 inspections;
- Inspection reporting; and
- Network summary reporting.
Value Delivered
By using an tailored inspection methodology for culverts (TfNSW Culvert Inspection and Risk methodology) rather than the bridge inspection manual (TMR SIM used for bridges), we were able to provide significantly cheaper inspection reports, with inspection data tailored to suit culverts.
Other Projects.
Gunnedah Shire Council – Data Collection Assessments
We combined Gunnedah Shire Council’s bridge and culvert inspections with NHVR SLGAAP data collection, reducing mobilisation costs and improving efficiency. The project delivered digital inspection records and condition data to support maintenance planning and long-term asset management.
PMHC – Bridge Assessment Program
Port Macquarie Hastings Council engaged Ductile Consulting Engineers to assess heavy vehicle capacity across its bridge network. Ductile evaluated 91 bridges and, using automated tools, delivered efficient insights and clear recommendations to guide access.
Orlando St Bridge Level 3 Inspection
Routine inspections of the Orlando St Bridge revealed significant deterioration, leading to Ductile Consulting Engineers being engaged. Their analysis confirmed no load restriction was needed and informed repairs to extend the bridge’s life by at least 30 years at a fraction of replacement cost.
